SUPPORTERS of the deaf in Doncaster were joined by local MP Rosie Winterton in backing a campaign urging people to get their hearing checked.

The Doncaster Central MP joined TV personality Anne Diamond, and Bobbie Roberts and Alan Robinson, both from Doncaster Deaf Trust, in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the 100th birthday of Action on Hearing Loss.

The group gave their support to the charity’s campaign, which encourages people to get a hearing check-up by visiting or by calling 0844 8003838.

The charity, formerly known as The Royal National Institute for Deaf People, has warned there are four million people in the UK with undiagnosed hearing problems.

Rosie said: “I’m supporting the call by Action on Hearing Loss and urging people in Doncaster who are struggling to hear their friends, family or colleagues to get their hearing checked now and avoid the unnecessary negative impacts of unaddressed hearing loss in their everyday lives.”
