MP in call for free lunches

Have your say

a SOUTH Yorkshire politician has backed a campaign to give free meals for poor students.

Dearne MP John Healey has thrown his weight behind the fight to give 300 young people in the Wentworth and Dearne constituency free lunches. Under the current scheme, 16 to 18 year olds who attend sixth forms, academies and free schools are still able to claim the meals, but it is not available to those who go on to college.

Mr Healey said: “Eligibility should be based on need, not where you decide to study.”
