SHEFFIELD MP Clive Betts has called on the Government to develop an ‘investment plan’ funded by taxes on bankers’ bonuses to help tackle the UK’s housing shortage and create jobs for young people.

Mr Betts, Labour MP for Sheffield South East, said: “With unemployment rising above 2.5 million, youth unemployment increasing to 972,000, and the economic recovery stalled, we need a real plan for jobs if we’re to get the economy growing again. We need an investment plan, funded the tax on bank bonuses, to build affordable homes and get young people off the dole and into work.”

Sheffield Hallam MP and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has pledged the Government will make progress on 40 large infrastructure schemes to help get the economy going and create work.
