MP backing campaign for clampdown on wildlife crime

Sheffield and Barnsley MP Angela Smith has called for tougher action on wildlife crime.

She is backing a campaign led by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, which aims to stamp out the unlawful slaughter of threatened species. The organisation fears growing demand for wildlife products, such as elephant ivory and rhinoceros horn is causing a surge in crimes.

Angela said: “I was shocked about the current scale of illegal wildlife trade. I hope my constituents will get behind the campaign as well.”
