Mountain rescue volunteer hurt in Peak District

Mountain rescuers were called out in the Peaks - after one of their own senior members slipped on wet ground and suffered a knee injury.

The accident happened near Edale as the man descended from Grindslow Knoll.

A Buxton Mountain Rescue spokesman said: “Imagine our surprise to find it was one of our own, a senior member of the Buxton Team. He was somewhat reluctant to call for assistance knowing the jibes and comments he would receive - however he overcame his reticence.”
