Rotherham Council has introduced a Traffic Regulation Order making yellow zig zags outside schools legally enforceable in the same way as double yellow lines.
It is now an offence to stop on the markings from 7.30am-5pm Mondays and Fridays.
Civil enforcement officers will carry out checks and issue penalty charge notices.
There are no exceptions, including disability badge holders.
