Motorists 'lucky' to survive Rotherham smash

He was arrested and spent a night in police custody following a collision on Lodge Lane, Dinnington, last night.

A Toyota and Kia were involved in the smash, which South Yorkshire Police said could have been more serious.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: " They were all very lucky to have walked away from the collision with cuts and bruises.

The rear axle from the Kia was ripped off and landed in the bushes.

"The driver of the Toyota was arrested for drink driving and is currently alone with his thoughts in a cell.

"He will be charged and sent to court."
