MORE than 100 motorists were reminded to buckle up and keep their vehicles roadworthy as part of an operation to clamp down on unsafe driving in Chesterfield.
Vehicles were pulled into the disused fire station on Sheffield Road, Whittington Moor, to check their conditions and to look for motorists committing offences.
The team issued fines and warnings to 60 drivers for not wearing seatbelts and 13 for using a phone while driving.
One car was seized by police and two drivers were given warnings for having no insurance. Four motorists were cautioned for speeding.
The checks also led to the discovery of 24 drivers whose tax discs had expired.
The checks were run by police, the DVLA, and the Casualty Reduction team.
