Motorist hits out over damage to cars

Have your say

A MOTORIST who had his tyres slashed on one car and paint stripper thrown over another in what he describes as a ‘vendetta’ has lashed out at the police response.

Retired Keith McMullen, aged 60, from Hathersage, said paint stripper was thrown over his black Vauxhall Eagle Quest limousine.

Then, 11 days later, the tyres were slashed on his white Mazda 626 in the car park at Hathersage station.

He believed a group of people were responsible and said he’d reported the attacks and his suspicions to Derbyshire Police.

But he said the police response was ‘feeble’ and no-one had been arrested.

He said: “They are absolutely useless and awful.

“Derbyshire Constabulary are the most ineffective force I have ever come across and I’ve lived all over England.”

Mr McMullen said he estimated the damage to his vehicles was worth about £2,500.

A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are taking Mr McMullen’s allegations seriously and we have followed up various lines of inquiry but have so far drawn a blank.”

She added officers had made house to house inquiries, spoken to local business owners, and appealed for information.
