Motorcyclist 'undergoing surgery' after serious crash near Sheffield retail park

A motorcyclist is undergoing surgery today for life-threatening injuries sustained in a road traffic collision near a Sheffield retail park.

The 44-year-old man riding a Kawasaki motorbike was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Antara close to the Drakehouse Retail Park in Waterthorpe at 12.15pm yesterday.

He sustained what police described as serious head, chest and back injuries and remains in hospital today where he is undergoing surgery.

The incident happened when the Antara was turning right out of Drake House Crescent on to Drake House Way when it was in collision with the motorbike.

A 40-year-old man driving the Antara was not injured.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 439 of July 23.
