Motorcyclist, 16, suffers 'potentially life-threatening' injuries following Sheffield crash with suspected drink driver

A 16-year-old boy has been hospitalised with potentially life-threatening injuries and a man has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving after a crash between a motorcyclist and a car in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police received a report at around 2:30pm yesterday (June 19) of a collision between a motorbike and a car on Adlington Road.

The rider of the motorbike, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to hospital via ambulance after he suffered serious injuries, which are believed to be potentially life-threatening.

The pillion passenger of the motorbike, a 16-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit for drink and drugs and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

The road was closed until around 9pm while officers carried out their enquiries.

Enquiries are ongoing.
