Morris men’s comeback

Have your say

TICKHILL has its own Morris dancers – after a group moved its base to the town.

The Green Oak Morris Men have once again made their home in the area, 28 years since they were last based in Tickhill when they used The Red Lion pub on Castlegate as their headquarters.

Now, over a quarter of a century later, the Green Oak Morris Men are back in town.

They will be meeting on the second Wednesday of each month from 8pm to 9.30pm in the Methodist Church Schoolroom.

They will rehearse their programme of Cotswold Morris, Yorkshire Long Sword and Mummer Plays that they perform around the South Yorkshire area at outdoor events throughout the summer.

The team welcomes dancers, singers and musicians who can find out more about the Green Oak Morris Men by calling in on practice night, browsing the website or contacting Pete on 07967 566761.
