Special Constables are being recruited for Derbyshire.

The county’s police force wants more volunteer officers, who have the same powers as regular bobbies , to boost numbers on the streets.

Specials need to be able to volunteer four hours or more per week for their policing duties.

Assistant Chief Constable Gary Knighton, who is the force’s lead on volunteering, said: “Our Special Constables have a long and proud history of providing vital support to the force and in particular giving very welcome assistance to our communities and police colleagues.”

A series of recruitment events are planned.
