More new shows announced for Doncaster theatre Cast

A drag act, a Swedish crime comedy thriller and a play about the inventor of the toilet all feature in the latest raft of shows announced for Doncaster’s new Cast theatre.

A puppet theatre, a “sinister and sensuous” cabaret version of Cinderella and a performance artist from Middlesbrough have also been added to the bill for the £22 million venue which opens on September 6.

The latest additions follow on from previously anounced Yorkshire singers Gareth Gates and Kate Rusby and comic Russell Kane.

The puppets of Mimika Theatre will appear on September 14-15 while Inspector Norse, a Nordic crime comedy follows on September 18-19. A brash, zany and colourful version of The Mikado comes from October 26-27 while Translunar Paradise, a challenging theatre production backed with live accordion music will be staged on October 1.

Royal Flush, a drama about Thorne inventor Thomas Crapper, is on October 4-5 while RashDash will present a cabaret Cinderella on October 9. Performance artist Daniel Bye and drag performer Myra DuBois are among other acts announced.
