MISSING GIRL: Finding Lily police's 'top priority'

The man leading the search for a missing teenage girl who may be in Sheffield has said finding her is South Yorkshire police's top priority.

Supt Simon Wanless told a press conference this afternoon that missing 15-year-old Lily Lewis is 'vulnerable' and urged anyone who might know of her whereabouts to contact the police.

Lily went missing from her home in Barnsley on Wednesday morning and there was a possible sighting of her on Arundel Gate in Sheffield that afternoon but there have been no sightings since.

Supt Wanless told the news conference that the teenager was living in Leicester until May but then moved to Barnsley after being put into the care of social services.

She has missing before but never for this length of time.

Sup Wanless said: "Lily is what we class as a high-risk missing person and this is a critical incident for South Yorkshire Police.

"We are putting a huge amount of resources into finding Lily safe and well and working in conjunction with Leicestershire Police.

"At the moment we think she is probably alone. There is nothing to suggest that she is with anyone else."

Lily is 5ft 10ins tall, slim and has with brown-ginger hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing black leggings and a grey hooded top with her hair half up and half down.
