'Mini-heatwave': How warm will it get in Sheffield this week and how long will it last?

Sheffield is set to enjoy its warmest spell of weather since last August this week as mild air makes its way in from the continent.

After a breezy, overcast and showery day today the mercury is set to rise from tomorrow as an area of high pressure takes charge.

Temperatures will hit a very warm 21C tomorrow and the best of the sunshine will be in the afternoon and evening.

On Thursday it will be even warmer and this is looking like being the hottest day of the mini heatwave.

The temperature will hit a balmy 23C in Sheffield, maybe even 24C.

A slight change in wind direction from Friday will see temperatures dip slightly but it will still feel very warm in any sunshine.

Friday will see plenty of sunny spells with highs of around 20C.

Saturday and Sunday look set to see the warm weather to remain in charge wilth plenty of sunshine and temperatures of 19C - well abov e average for the time of year..

This early blast of summer comes just two weeks after Sheffield was blanketed in snow on Easter Monday.

Into next week the weather looks likely to take a turn for the worse with low pressure systems from the Atlantic brining cooler conditions and spells of rain.
