Millions unaware of the 'silent killer'

THOUSANDS of lives could be saved each year if the 'missing millions' of Britons who have undiagnosed high blood pressure were detected and treated.

Up to 16 million in the UK have high blood pressure, yet a third are unaware of the 'silent killer'.

A health survey reveals that if high blood pressure were detected and treated, there would be an approximate 40% reduction in death from stroke and a 30% reduction in death from heart attack.
