FRIENDS and family of former Rotherham United footballer Peter Perry will gather for his funeral tomorrow.

Peter, aged 75, who lived in Handsworth, Sheffield, was a member of the Millers team that played in the first League Cup Final in 1961.

Originally from Treeton, the right full back made 118 appearances for his home town club between 1957 and 1962, scoring 12 goals – mostly penalties.

He went on to play for York City and Gainsborough Trinity.

Peter was the wages department manager at Orgreave Coking Plant for more than 30 years.

A fit and active man, his death follows a stroke last year.

Peter leaves a wife Anne, son Mark and daughter Nicola.

His funeral service will take place at City Road Crematorium at 2.15pm, followed by a gathering in the Crown at Handsworth.
