Doncaster North MP and Labour leader Ed Miliband says he will back calls for military action against IS in Iraq.

It comes after Prime Minister David Cameron told the United Nations that the UK was ready to play its part in confronting “an evil against which the whole world must unite”, following calls for international air strikes on the Islamic State terror group in Iraq

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and Mr Miliband each confirmed that they would be backing the PM’s call for military action in a vote in parliament tomorrow.

Mr Miliband - who spoke to Mr Cameron before the recall was announced and has been briefed by national security officials - said: “We will learn the lessons of the past - but we will not turn away from threats to our national interest.”
