Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery has been given a funding boost to pay for a new showcase for its metalwork collection.

The museum succesfully bid for £110,000 from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport and the Wolfson Foundation as part of an ambitious £300,000 project to revitalise the gallery’s existing displays of decorative metalwork, cutlery and flatware.

Kim Streets, chief executive, said: “We’re hugely grateful to the DCMS and the Wolfson Foundation for supporting the redevelopment of the Millennium Gallery’s metalwork displays.

“The collection is one of the real jewels in Sheffield’s crown and a testament to the city’s worldwide reputation for craftsmanship and excellence.”
