SHEFFIELD’S Mercury Taxis has named Whirlow Hall Farm Trust as the company’s 2012 Charity of the Year.
General manager Dermot Griffiths said: “Whirlow Hall Farm offers experiences to local children, specifically targeting those from inner city areas who have never been to the countryside, let alone been up close to the animals.
“Its benefits are felt by some of the city’s most challenged communities and it is vital that it is able to continue operating.
“Our target for the year is to raise £7,500 for the Trust, which will help to fund a number of projects at the farm as well as make sure plenty of children have the chance to visit Whirlow Hall and enjoy themselves while learning.”
Sarah Kerrigan, fundraiser and event organiser at the Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, added: “ The economic climate has meant that businesses that previously supported us have been forced to pull out, so donations from organisations such as Mercury are absolutely vital to our survival as a working Farm.
“We rely almost entirely on donations, so for Mercury to support us is superb.”
