Men need groups too

I read your article in The Star, of Friday, March 11, by Nik Farah, regarding Girly Gatherings.

I think it is a great thing to empower people, but what does upset me is why are all these groups aimed at women.

What about all those men who are abused by their spouses or who have worked all their lives and have found themselves redundant with nothing there to help them?

I know from my husband’s own experience of setting up and running Park Hill Education and Training at Park Hill school, that any charitable funding he got could not be used for men-only groups, or whites-only but could be used for courses for ethnic minorities and women.

It doesn’t seem fair that it has become so difficult to get funding for charitable groups who feel uncomfortable in mixed groups because it is seen as not politically correct.

To me it is political correctness gone mad.

Everyone from all walks of life need help and empowerment at some time in their lives and yet help is only available to a few.
