Two drivers are in hospital with serious injuries following a head-on crash between two cars in South Yorkshire.

The smash happened on the A628, close to the Flouch Roundabout and the junction with the A616.

It involved a silver Volkswagen Sharan people carrier and a silver Honda Civic.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 40-year-old man from Rotherham, and a man aged 53 from Barnsley who was behind the wheel of the Honda, were both taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the cars in the moments before the crash, as well as anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened at 8.45am on Saturday, to come forward.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 323 of August 30.
