Men demanded cash during burglary in Sheffield

Three men broke into a house in Sheffield and demanded cash from a 91-year-old man inside.

They called at a house in Carpenter Gardens, Intake, at 10.30pm on Tuesday and pushed the OAP out of the way when he answered his door.

The men, who wore face coverings, then searched the property while making demands for money.

South Yorkshire Police said the crooks escaped empty-handed apart from taking a set of house keys.

They drove off in a black vehicle, believed to have been a BMW.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "The burglary on Carpenter Gardens occurred around 10.30pm on Tuesday.

"The victim was a 91-year-old male who was in the house along with his son-in-law.

"He opened the door and the offenders pushed their way in.

"They demanded money. They searched the house and when none was found they left taking only the house keys. No weapons were seen.

"Enquiries are ongoing and the victim has been supported."
