They struck at Colley Road News and Booze, Parson Cross, at 7.30am on Saturday, with one of the men believed to have been carrying a pen knife.

South Yorkshire Police said they demanded cash from a shop worker but escaped empty handed and were last seen running off towards Barnsley Road and Sicey Avenue.

Both wore grey jackets with the hoods pulled over their faces.

Detectives investigating the incident believe the men were around 25 years old and spoke with local accents.
