Men arrested on suspicion of crashing stolen car in Beighton before fleeing from police

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of crashing a stolen car before attempting to race away from officers in Beighton.

At around 1.30 yesterday afternoon, a blue Mercedes C230 was seen speeding away from police after it failed to stop for officers.

The Mercedes then crashed into a parked car on Cairns Road with two men then attempting to flee from the vehicle.

After a short foot pursuit, police were able to detain the two men.

The two men, a 23-year-old and a 31-year-old were arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an RTC and possession of an offensive weapon.

No one was hurt in the collision and officers are currently investigating the incident.
