Men accused of using gun to make threats in Sheffield on same night as Rotherham stabbing

Two men have been charged with using a gun to make threats in Sheffield as well as stabbing a man in Rotherham.

Aaron Casey, aged 24, and Louis Barker, 26, were arrested after a 19-year-old man was pulled from a car and stabbed in his back in Wellgate, Rotherham at 7pm on Wednesday before two men on a moped later used a gun to demand money from the occupant of a house on Bellhouse Road, Shiregreen, Sheffield.

A third man also arrested over the incidents remains in police custody.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "In the early hours of this morning, two men have been charged with a string of offences in connection to an assault in Rotherham, and an additional incident in Sheffield on Wednesday evening.

"Aaron Casey, 24, and Louis Barker, 26, have both been charged with wounding, racially aggravated criminal damage and possession of a bladed article in relation to an assault on Wellgate in Rotherham.

"At around 7pm a black one series BMW is reported to have pulled up on Wellgate and three men got of the car, approaching a black Audi A3.

"The driver of the Audi, 19-years-old, is then reported to have been punched in the face and also sustained a stab wound to his back.

"The Audi's windscreen was then allegedly smashed and racist comments made towards the occupants of the car, before all three men got back into the BMW and fled the scene.

"The 19-year-old attended hospital to be treated for his injuries and has since been discharged."

She added: "Barker and Casey have also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in connection to an incident in Shiregreen in Sheffield later that evening.

"At around 8.45pm, two men pulled up on Bellhouse Road on a moped, reportedly in possession of a firearm.

"The men allegedly made threats with the firearm, while on the bike, to an occupant at an address on the street demanding money.

"There are not believed to have been any shots fired and no injuries have been reported."
