Men accused of attempted murder following disturbance in Doncaster

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a disturbance which armed police were called out to near Doncaster.

One suspect - a 44-year-old man from Westwoodside, near Doncaster - is in police custody this morning.

The other - a man in his 20s - is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a violent disturbance in Westwoodside, Doncaster, yesterday afternoon.

“Officers remain in the area today to reassure the community and enquiries are ongoing.

“A 44-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

“A second male, believed to be in his twenties, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the disturbance, or with information about vehicles in the area at the time of the incident, to come forward.”
