In memory of Mr Graves

I was born at Woodseats 85 years ago, and the memories I have of Graves Park, are as clear to me today as they were all those years ago.

I left Woodseats when I was 14 or 15 years of age, when we were moved to another home.

A maiden aunt of mine worked for Mr HE Graves and she told me and my father, that he had said that the park was for Sheffield, nothing to be put on it unless it was for leisure and sport, to be cared for by the Graves Park Trust.

I do hope that the cottage on Cobnar Road, stays as it is and left as a memory of which Mr Graves wanted, the park etc. is for the people of Sheffield, and we should be proud of it.

I know I wish I still could visit it.
