Meeting next week for the people of Crookes

Have your say

PEOPLE who live and work in the Sheffield suburb of Crookes are invited to a community meeting next week.

The Crookes Community Forum meeting is next Wednesday, April 17, at 7pm, at St Thomas’ Church in Crookes.

The meeting will be a chance to formalise the new group, set out its aims and objectives, and welcome offers from local people interested in becoming part of its management committee.

A former Crookes Community Forum did previously exist, and initial moves to set up a new one were made late last year.

Three preliminary meetings have so far been held, involving local residents and Crookes councillors.

Anyone who went to any of the previous meetings, or who lives in Crookes or works in the area, and wants to be involved in making the suburb a better place, is urged to attend next week.

Once the group is up and running, it is hoped community projects can be organised.

Areas for action might include getting funding for hanging baskets or flowering planters, sprucing up any eyesores, and organising community events. It is also hoped the group can be a ‘voice’ for Crookes, especially once community assemblies disband officially in a few weeks’ time.
