The popular Chinese restaurant closed its doors at the shopping centre earlier this month, prompting an outpouring of grief from customers on Twitter.

Benj tweeted: “Yangtze Chinese has shut in Meadowhall this is not a drill”

Hundreds of disappointed customers replied to the tweet, with one person saying her ‘heart is literally broken’ with the news.

Another stated that this was ‘no laughing matter’ while others said they were ‘absolutely devastated’.

Thankfully, it doesn’t look like the popular restaurant will be closed for too long.

In their newsletter, Meadowhall stated that Yangtze would open in mid-February follwing a refit.

They also revealed that North Face will be moving to a new store in the Spring and Lacoste would be opening up a new shop next to Godiva.

Fat Face will also be on the move into a larger unit following the closure of Foot Asylum on the Upper Level.

The news sparked mass relief online with one customer stating ‘my heart is on the mend’.
