A CHARITY worker from Sheffield will be going the distance in a gruelling ‘ultra marathon’ raising money for the British Red Cross.
Max Newton, who also works at the organisation, will take on the 56-mile London to Brighton race in September.
He will set off at 6am from Blackheath in London, and hopes to arrive on the pebbled beach at Brighton 12 hours later.
The dad-of-two has previously completed the Great North Run and London Marathon but this will be his toughest challenge yet.
He is aiming to raise £1,500 in sponsorship.
Max said: “I’m really going to push myself to the limit this year so I can pester everyone yet again for more donations.
“I’m really looking forward to the camaraderie with my fellow runners on the day.
“I’m hoping some of them will help keep me going once we pass mile 30 – and hopefully I’ll latch on to somebody who can read a map!”
