Sheffield edged out London Lions thanks to Cook’s go-ahead field goal with just 29 seconds left on the clock.

John Barber was named game MVP for his 20 point contribution and grabbing three rebounds.

It was a night when the league’s top scorer Jerrold Brooks was contained to just three points.

But coach Atiba Lyons took that as a positive with the Sharks still managing to come out on top.

“It’s a good thing if we know we can win even when he isn’t at his best,” Lyons said.

London started the better and led 43-35 at half time with Sheffieldu’s usual tough defence giving up ten made field goals from 14 attempts.

It was the first time in eight matches they have given up more than 60 per cent in a half.

The half time message from Lyons was clearly the importance of defence as they conceded just nine points in the third quarter, largely due to a switch to zonal defence.

Seven points from Barber ensured a two point lead entering the final quarter.

The major difference in the fourth came from behind the three point line when two of their four scores on the night came.

Alex Owuni landed a three pointer to give London a 62-20 lead with little more than four minutes left.

However Cook and TJ Robbinson combined to provide the vital offence and secure the win.
