Masons give to city charities

FREEMASONS in Sheffield have donated more than £4,000 to good causes.

The organisation presented £1,000 for new printing equipment to social enterprise Reach 4 The Stars, which supports people with learning disabilities.

They also gave £1,000 to the Cavendish Cancer Care Centre for a refurbished hall and staircase and £750 to the Leonard Cheshire Care Home for a new public address system.

Wensley Street Residential Care Home was presented with £500, helping it build a shelter over its new outdoor decking area, while the Young Carers Project received £1,000 towards its wish list of day trips and activities.

The money was donated by West Riding Masonic Charities. Spokesman Roger Newhouse praised the generosity of members.
