SHEFFIELD’S oldest Masonic Lodge is celebrating its 250th anniversary with a special gift to one of the city’s most popular charities.
Britannia Lodge of the Sheffield Freemasons has made a £10,000 donation to St Luke’s Hospice.
“One of the principal philosophies of Freemasonry is charitable work in the community and we were delighted to be able to support St Luke’s as it celebrates its 40th anniversary,” said Lodge Almoner Roger Farris.
“We are particularly pleased to donate such a large amount to the hospice to help them improve their in-patient facilities.”
Una Moran, from the hospice, said: “The Freemasons have been great supporters of St Luke’s for a long time and this donation is extremely important to us.”
