Marvel at the moon at Chesterfield observatory

Residents are being invited to marvel at the moon at a special.

Chesterfield Astronomical Society will celebrate earth’s nearest neighbour during an open evening from 7pm on Saturday, October 8.

Held at the society’s Barnett Observatory on Hastings Close, Newbold, the event will give young and old the chance to view the celestial body through various telescopes.

Talks and trips around the observatory will also take place, with society members on hand to answer any questions.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The open evening will cost £3 each to help maintain the society’s equipment and observatory.

Refreshments will be served and a raffle will be held.
