A SHEFFIELD runner will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime when he completes the London marathon in memory of his dad.
David Burkitt is running the 26.2 miles around the capital in April in support of the British Lung Foundation. One person in seven is struck down with lung disease.
David said: “When my dad died in December 2009 after almost a lifetime battling lung disease, I decided I wanted to try to help other people in his situation.
“I had taken up running and decided I would run the Sheffield Half Marathon last year. This year, I wanted to go a step further.
“It will be the hardest thing I have ever done but I am training hard and I’m sure I’ll make it.
“I’m really keen to raise as much money as possible would really welcome sponsorship.” Log on to www.virginmoneygiving.com/DavidBurkitt-London2011
