Organisers of the Sheffield Half Marathon are calling for volunteers to help with the running of the event.
The marathon, on Sunday, May 23, has a revised route and is expected to have more entrants than ever. However, the higher numbers mean increased demand for volunteers.
Margaret Lilley, organising committee chairman, said: “The race wouldn’t be possible without the kindness of our volunteers.
“We hope this generosity will continue again this year.”
The marathon is being chiefly sponsored by SIG Insulations, with other sponsors including The Star. This year the chosen charities include the British Heart Foundation and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Volunteers are required to perform a range of tasks, from collecting donations to handing out T-shirts and marshalling the route. For details, call 0114 230 8429.
