Man's leg broken in Sheffield street stamp attack

A man's leg was broken as he was stamped on in a Sheffield city centre gang attack.

The 22-year-old victim was on a night out with friends when he was subjected to what police have described as a ‘nasty and unprovoked assault involving a number of suspects’ on Division Street.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the man suffered fractures to his tibia and fibula bones in the attack, which occurred at around 1am on Sunday, May 22.

Detective Constable Trish Sidaway investigating said: “This appears to have been a nasty and unprovoked assault involving a number of suspects.

“The victim was reportedly stamped on by one suspect, causing significant injuries that required hospital treatment.

“This level of violence is unacceptable and we need to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time that may have witnessed this incident take place.”

CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area to no gain.
