SOME jobs are right on the cutting edge.

But pupils from Prince Edward Primary School proved well up to the task when they were asked to cut the ribbon to open a new supermarket.

Pupils from the City Road School were invited to officially open the new Asda store at Manor Top after the former Netto had undergone a half million pound conversion.

Pupils and teachers were invited to launch the store by manager, Mark Tankard. They were accompanied by Asda colleagues who have all transferred from Netto.

The youngsters also helped with bag packing for the store’s customers and directed new visitors to the appropriate aisles.

To thank them for officially opening the new store, the pupils were given a £50 Asda gift card to share with their classmates.

Teacher Hilary French said: “It was a real honour to be asked to open the store and the pupils really enjoyed themselves.”
