THE ‘man with the pram’ who wears a green wig and pushes a pram around Sheffield to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support is £5,000 closer to his target.
Staff at Cash Converters on Glossop Road have raised £5,000 for John Burkhill’s appeal by taking donations from people who had their photographs taken with the Olympic torch the OAP carried through the city in the relay ahead of the London games.
The 73-year-old, from Richmond, has made it his lifetime ambition to reach a fundraising target of £250,000, after losing both his wife and daughter to cancer.
The money raised at Cash Converters was due to be presented to John by the Mayor of Sheffield John Campbell today.
John is due to take part in the Great North Run next weekend for the 10th time.
