A MAIN Sheffield road was closed for over an hour after a man threatened to jump from a bridge.
The A6102 Herries Road was closed to traffic in both directions just before noon yesterday.
The man, who was threatening to jump from the Five Arches Bridge, was talked down by police officers and taken to safety.
A police spokeswoman said Herries Road re-opened at around 1pm.
Queues built up between the Herries Road junction with Wordsworth Avenue and the A61 Penistone Road North junction.
Motorists said the road closure meant traffic was heavy and slow between Owlerton Green and Leppings Lane.
Paramedics were on standby and some bus services were diverted.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
