Man taken to hospital with gunshot wound in suspected Sheffield shooting

Police were called out to Harwell Road, near Nether Edge, at around 3.15pm yesterday afternoon to reports of shots fired in Harwell Road.
A number of men were seen running from the scene and the incident has sparked an appeal for information.

Hide AdIn a statement this morning, police stated: “Police attended the scene and discovered a man with injuries to his foot consistent with a firearms discharge. He has been taken to hospital to receive treatment.
“It is reported that a number of men aged approximately 20-years-old were seen fleeing the area towards Wolseley Road.
“An investigation is underway to find who is responsible.
“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened?
“If you have any information which might help our officers in their enquiries, please call 101 quoting incident number 528.”

Yesterday afternoon, a large police presence could be seen in the area.
Several areas were cordoned off, and a large police van was parked blocking the entrance to Harwell Road.
More police tape could be seen in other parts of Abbeydale Road.

Hide AdAn area of Abbeydale Road, on the corner with Chippinghouse Road, was sealed off outside the H H J convenience store.
One eyewitness said last night that a young man was shot in the foot on one of the roads and ran into the convenience store for help.
His injuries were reportedly not life-threatening.
It is the latest shooting to take place in the Nether Edge area of the city.
On May 23, investigations were launched following two shootings in Nether Edge, on Machon Bank and Glen Road.
