Man sustains life-threatening injuries on motorway in South Yorkshire

A man is fighting for life in hospital after he was involved in a late night collision on the motorway.

The 41-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the crash shortly after midnight on Wednesday, December 30, on the northbound carriageway of the M1.

Police said a blue Ford C-Max was in collision with a green Volvo LGV at about 12.15am. The car then crashed into the central reservation between junction 32 for the M18 towards Doncaster, and junction 33 for Rotherham and the Sheffield parkway.

The driver of the C-Max sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
