Man suffers potentially life-changing injuries in Sheffield city centre collision

Emergency crews have spent the last few hours dealing with the incident in St Mary’s Gate.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to St Mary’s Gate at around 11.40am today to reports that a car had collided with a pedestrian.

Hide Ad“The pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries.
“Two lanes of the carriageway are closed as the investigation into the incident continues.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.”
Pictures from the scene show a number of emergency vehicles at the scene including police and ambulances while fire crews are also understood to have responded to the incident near to the Aldi supermarket.
The incident is causing traffic problems in the area with jams building up on city centre roads.
