Man stole handbag from pensioner tending her husband's grave in Rotherham

The 80-year-old was in St Mary’s Church graveyard, St Mary’s Drive, Catcliffe, when a man ran up to the grave and grabbed the bag from the ground.

He then rode off on a bike.

The thief was white, in his mid 20s, and was wearing a light grey hooded top and blue tracksuit bottoms.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The woman was not injured but has been left distressed by the incident.”

Witnesses to the incident at 2.35pm yesterday should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
