Man slashed by robber in Doncaster knife attack

A man was slashed with a knife in an attack near the former Bentley pit site, police have revealed.

Police say the 32-year-old victim was walking from the Bentley Pit along a path adjacent to the railway line towards Station Road, when two unknown men approached him.

One of the men is alleged to have been carrying a knife.

The two men stole the victim’s MP3 player before the man reportedly carrying the knife assaulted him, causing injuries to his face. A spokesman said the victim was slashed.

Officers say the man believed to have carried out the assault also sustained an injury to the top of his left leg during the incident. The two men then ran from the area towards Shaftholme Lane.

A police spokesman said: “The man reportedly carrying the knife is described as mixed race, aged between 20-30, about 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build with dark stubble on his face. He is believed to have a tooth missing to the left of his mouth and was wearing dark grey tracksuit bottoms, a blue and grey tracksuit top and a red baseball cap. His hair is described as short, dark and wavy.

“The second man is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with dark brown, medium length hair. He is also described as having pock marked skin and was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with a dark, padded tracksuit top.”

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious at around the time of the incident to come forward. It was reported to have happened at about 1.45pm on Friday March 4.
