A MAN was rescued from the lake in Walton Park, Chesterfield, after walking in to the water while he was drunk.
Police said the man entered the water at 8.53pm on Sunday and was rescued by firefighters at 9.10pm.
He was around 20metres away from dry land when members of Derbyshire Fire Service’s swift water rescue team got to him and led him back to safety.
Paramedics who were also called to the park checked him at the scene and took him to Chesterfield Hospital by ambulance.
Police said the man was 44 years old and local.
Members of the public dialled 999 with concerns for the man’s safety after spotting him entering the water late at night and because of the cold weather.
He was cold but unharmed.
