A man arrested on suspicion of causing unneccesary suffering to a dog after the death of a Staffordshire bull terrier last February is still on police bail.

The 28-year-old man was arrested after the dog’s battered and burned body was discovered on wasteland in Skye Edge, Sheffield.

Issac was snatched from a garden in the city, led into scrubland and tied to a tree before his legs were broken, he was attacked, and his body set alight.

Police arrested the man last year but are yet to release or charge him.

The man is due to answer bail later this month.

Following Issac’s death pet lovers from all over the county gathered for a candlelit vigil held at the spot where he died.

A Facebook page was set up calling for stiffer animal cruelty penalties.
