Man remains in hospital with serious injuries after being robbed by gang of 'off-road bikers' in Rotherham

A man who was reportedly robbed and beaten by a gang of 'off-road bikers' remains in hospital with series injuries.

Detectives investigating an incident in which a 61-year-old man was 'repeatedly kicked' and had his mobile phone stolen by a group of men have issued a further appeal for information.

At around 3.30pm on Tuesday, October 25, the man and his wife were walking along the fields at the back of Quarry Field Lane, Wickersley, when a group of about eight off-road bikers approached them.Two members of the group are then said to have asked the man for his phone before repeatedly kicked him, stealing his phone and leaving the area.

The man was taken to hospital, where he currently remains, with serious internal injuries, South Yorkshire Police said. Acting Detective Sergeant Richard Gladwin, said: “A number of these bikers saw what happened and they may well hold crucial information in relation to this investigation.“I’d like to ask them to come forward to help us with our enquiries. If you were one of those riding an off-road bike that afternoon, please come forward and tell us what happened.
